Blake Fleetwood, a former correspondent for the New York Times, declared after trying heli-skiing, "This was the best day of my life." Although it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, heli-skiing may be very dangerous. especially considering that this one starts with a helicopter leap into an uncharted area.

"This is not a sport for sane people," Fleetwood said. It's also not for those who don't want to incur the risks required by risky sports. Pole Vaulting

Pole vaulting is one of the riskiest track and field events because, according to pole vaulting coach Chris Hord, "you run at full speed in an almost 100-meter sprint with a 15- to 17-foot fiberglass pole in your hand, then you're bending it, trying to get upside down to clear a bar in the air."

He explained that injuries could arise from competitors falling short, the pole breaking, or even the person's hands slipping. Pole vaulters, however, put their all into the sport and enjoy every second of flying through the air in the hopes of winning the gold once they embrace the inherent risk.Keep reading below.
